Gwadar: One man allegedly disappeared; another recovered after three months
A man has reportedly been forcibly disappeared after being detained by Pakistani forces in Gwadar. The incident has raised concerns about enforced disappearances and human rights abuses in the region. According to sources, Naseeb Baloch, the son of Abdul Shakoor, was detained by military personnel at the Shahi Hotel in Gwadar’s Padi Zir area on August 5. Since his detention, his whereabouts have remained unknown, causing distress among his family and local communities.
In a separate case, a young man named Kiyya, son of Muhammad Isa, has returned after being missing for more than three months. Kiyya was detained in the Shey Kehn area of Turbat on April 23. His return has brought some relief to his family, but the circumstances surrounding his detention and release remain unclear. No official details have been provided regarding his detention or the reasons for his disappearance.
Kiyya was later released in Balicha, Tump, but the exact conditions of his release are not known. His case is among many others linked to enforced disappearances carried out by security forces in Balochistan. Human rights groups continue to document these cases as part of a broader pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial actions against Baloch activists and civilians.
Meanwhile, a protest camp organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has been ongoing outside the Quetta Press Club for an unprecedented 6,325 consecutive days. The protest is led by the organization’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch, and calls for justice and accountability for all missing persons in Balochistan.
The VBMP has reiterated its demand for the immediate and safe recovery of all individuals who have been forcibly disappeared. The organization urges authorities to provide families with information about the whereabouts of their loved ones and to ensure their safe return. The persistent protests highlight the deep frustration and grief of families affected by enforced disappearances.
The organization also demands that the government take effective measures to prevent further enforced disappearances and alleged extrajudicial killings. It calls for transparent investigations into all cases of missing persons, with those responsible held accountable under the law.
The ongoing protests and cases emphasize the urgent need for justice and accountability in Balochistan. Human rights advocates continue to press for an end to enforced disappearances and for the protection of fundamental rights of the Baloch people.
