Acid attack on female doctor at Quetta hospital leads to suspect’s fatal police encounter
A female doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta was gravely injured on Saturday when a hospital employee allegedly threw acid on her, police reported. The incident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safety within the hospital premises.
The victim has been identified as Dr. Mahnoor Khan Nasar, a resident of Dukki district in Balochistan. She is a respected medical professional working at Civil Hospital, and her injuries have caused widespread distress among her colleagues and family.
According to a senior official at Civil Hospital, Dr. Nasar sustained severe burns on her face, chest, legs, and other parts of her body as a result of the attack. The extent of her injuries is serious, and she was immediately shifted to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Hospital sources revealed that approximately 70 percent of her body was affected in the attack. Efforts are underway to provide her with the necessary medical care, and arrangements are being made to transfer her to Karachi via air ambulance for specialized treatment.
Police officials stated that the suspect responsible for the attack fled the hospital shortly after the incident. Law enforcement authorities launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrator, who had managed to escape the scene.
Later, police traced the suspect while he was attempting to leave Quetta by bus. When approached by law enforcement, the suspect opened fire on police officers. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the suspect was killed. Quetta’s DIG Imran Shaukat confirmed that the suspect was killed during the police encounter as he tried to escape.
